This is an essential part of your adventure, and it all starts in the Small Bourgeon region. Here’s the lowdown on how to help your little buddy — and what rewards you can snag along the way.
Where to Find Bourgeon Skin
To find Bourgeon skin, head over to the Flying Waters area. Here’s what you need to do:
- Defeat the Optional Bourgeon Boss: This boss is located near the Expedition 48 – Lumerian Streets rest point. It’s pretty straightforward to access—just backtrack through the alley and take a left through a small ravine.
- Look for a Rocky Arena: Once you navigate to that area, you’ll encounter the Bourgeon boss. Defeating it will grant you the skin you need.
If you’re at the point where you’ve unlocked Esquie, you can find another Bourgeon while heading right of the Stone Wave Cliffs entrance. There are multiple Bourgeons in later parts of the game, so don’t stress if you miss out the first time!
How to Beat the Bourgeon Boss
Taking down the Bourgeon can be tough since it’s capable of swallowing your party members, knocking them out of combat temporarily. Here are some strategies:
- Use Gustave’s Overcharge: This ability is key for making the Bourgeon spit your teammate back out.
- Exploit Its Weakness: The Bourgeon is weak to lightning. Using lightning-based attacks will chip away its health fast. You can also use burn damage over time (DoT) with Lune and activate Maelle’s Degagement ability to stack fire weakness.
- Early Lightning Weapon: Grab the Deminerim for Lune by assisting the Demineur to boost your damage.
- Maelle’s Percee Ability: If you’re leveling her attributes right, this ability can deal huge damage, even early on.
