Destiny 2 Player Receives Steam Refund After 2,000 Hours

In a surprising turn of events, a dedicated Destiny 2 player with over 2,000 hours logged has successfully secured a refund from Steam. This rare case raises questions about the game’s longevity and player satisfaction in the evolving gaming landscape.

Destiny 2 Player Receives Steam Refund After 2,000+ Hours

A Destiny 2 player, who racked up over 2,000 hours, managed to snag a refund for the game on Steam. This comes right after Destiny 2 became unplayable for some due to various issues.

Destiny 2's endgame just got hit with its biggest controversy

With the recent expansion, The Edge of Fate, launching in mid-July, Destiny 2 experienced a surge in players. But, by now, they’ve lost about 80% of those active users. Many gamers cite bugs and steep difficulty as reasons, but some have been forced to quit due to being locked out of the game

Recent issues prompted a player, known as trashcanslover, to ask Steam for a refund despite their hefty playtime. Surprisingly, they received a refund, not just for the game but also for all the expansions! That’s pretty unique since Steam’s usual rule is that refunds only happen within 14 days of purchase and with less than 2 hours played. However, there have been exceptions like when players of The Last of Us PC version got refunds over severe loading issues.

It looks like Steam agreed to refund this player due to genuine problems with the game. At the end of September, gamers in places like Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus faced game accessibility issues, with Bungie stating: “Destiny services are not available where access is restricted by law.” Explaining this to Steam’s support seemed to work, resulting in the refund.

However, not all players are so fortunate. While some secured refunds, others with much less playtime faced rejection. It seems Steam may not be issuing refunds to everyone affected, raising questions about their criteria. Although some players are relieved to have their money back, the annoyance of losing access to a game they’ve poured hours into still stings. Let’s hope this is not a permanent issue for players affected by the region blocks.
