Final Fantasy 14 Players Displeased with New Cosmetics

Final Fantasy 14 players are expressing dissatisfaction with the game’s latest cosmetics, feeling that the new designs fail to meet their expectations. Community backlash highlights concerns over aesthetics and the value of in-game purchases.

Players Unhappy with New Cosmetics in Final Fantasy 14

On September 30, Final Fantasy 14 dropped some exciting new cosmetics in its Online Store to celebrate the arrival of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. However, the prices sparked a bit of drama among players, as some realized that the total cost of these items exceeded the launch price of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles.

Final Fantasy Tactics The Ivalice Chronicles

Final Fantasy Tactics first dropped on the PlayStation back in 1997, setting the stage in the war-torn land of Ivalice. Players navigated the intense political maneuvering and conflict known as the War of the Lions, fighting characters like Ramza Beoulve and Delita Heiral as they unraveled conspiracies. While it received a PSP port titled The War of the Lions, the game hasn’t been available on modern platforms until now. The new Ivalice Chronicles not only includes the classic version with an updated translation but also features an Enhanced Edition boasting voice acting and improved gameplay mechanics.

FF14’s New Cosmetics Price Tag Raises Eyebrows

With the release of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, Final Fantasy 14 decided to celebrate its characters by adding some flashy new cosmetics to the Online Store. The items include Ramza’s Attire, Ovelia’s Attire, Gaffgarion’s Attire, and the Final Fantasy Tactics Orchestrion Set. Each outfit costs $18, while the Orchestrion Set goes for $15. Players quickly calculated that the total for all these items is a whopping $69 before taxes, about $19 more than the launch price of the new Final Fantasy Tactics game. Naturally, fans took to Reddit to voice their concerns, sparking discussions about the ethics of pricing in-game cosmetics.

But wait, there’s more! Final Fantasy 14 had previously introduced the Crystarium Rebel’s Attire in July, inspired by Alisaie Leveilleur’s outfit during the Shadowbringers expansion. While this gear can be equipped by any job in FF14, many noticed it consists mainly of pieces that already exist in the game.

Both Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles are products of Creative Studio 3, with Naoki Yoshida taking on the role of producer for both titles. As Final Fantasy 14 prepares for Patch 7.35 on October 7, fans are buzzing about what new cosmetics might roll out next!
