So, how do you actually turn that doll into a super-cool imaginary friend? Here are the three paths to make that happen:
- Reach level 3 in the Creativity Skill.
- Feel the loneliness: A little sad social meter can do the trick.
- Befriend the doll through play and bonding.
If you’re not using cheats, just keep playing with the doll until your Sim considers it a friend. You only need to check off one path, so it’s super doable. Once you’ve met one of those goals, look for the “Turn into Imaginary Friend” option. In a few magical seconds, boom! Your child’s invisible BFF is here!
Making an imaginary friend can also buff your Sim with sweet personality perks. For instance, if your Sim “pours their heart out” to their doll, they get a confidence boost, along with the “Friend of Mind” bonus once the doll’s turned into a friend.
Making an Imaginary Friend Real
Once your child Sim gets tight with their Imaginary Friend, the friendship can be taken to the next level. When your Sim becomes a teen, they can converse with their doll again and select “Offer to make real.” That doll is going to step out of the toy box and join their household as a full-fledged teen.
If you decide not to take this route, that’s fine too! Dolls can still provide emotional support and fun interaction without needing to become real. Whether they’re reminiscing about the good ol’ doll days or finding comfort when life gets tough, your Sims will always have a way to connect with their toy friends.
