Pokemon GO is leveling up! Starting October 15, the game is set to introduce exciting new leveling rewards and revamp its leveling system. For those who love a challenge, the Trainer level cap will increase from 50 to 80, making progress more rewarding and fun!
Are you ready to hit that max level? While reaching Trainer level 50 is already a huge feat, there are tons of ways to earn XP—catching new Pokémon, hatching eggs, and participating in limited-time events. With events and challenges popping up frequently, leveling up won’t feel like such a grind.
Trainer Level Cap is Rising!
On October 15, Pokemon GO will allow players to climb all the way to level 80! This is a game-changer, as it opens up a lot more opportunities to earn sweet in-game rewards more often. One of the best parts? Increased storage capacity for your Pokémon! Plus, as you hit certain levels, you’ll unlock awesome avatar rewards.

The egg hatches after you walk 1km, giving you 10,000 XP. Just make sure you’re at least level 15 to take advantage of this — and only one egg can be incubated at a time.
As for XP requirements, reaching level 80 requires a staggering 203,353,000 XP! Yup, you read that right! Plus, they are ditching the old Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41 to 50 and introducing new ones for levels 71 to 80. The good news is that all the XP you’ve earned will count towards the new leveling scale, ensuring no one drops in level.
