To unlock Lumiere and Cogsworth in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to complete specific quests. Start by progressing through the story and visiting the castle. Look for clues and gather items needed to activate their characters. Completing these tasks will bring these beloved characters to your valley. Enjoy their magic and charm as you interact with them!

The Return to Beast’s Castle update in Disney Dreamlight Valley brings Lumiere and Cogsworth into the Beauty and the Beast realm, and it’s time to unleash some magic in your valley! To kick things off, make sure that you’ve already unlocked the Beauty and the Beast realm and that both Belle and the Beast are living in your valley.

Once you’ve got that sorted, you’ll receive a letter from the Beast about checking on his friends at the castle. This letter kicks off the quest to invite Lumiere and Cogsworth to your valley, so buckle up for some fun tasks!

How to Complete the Haunting of the Beast’s Castle Quest

Head over to the Beauty and the Beast realm and make a beeline for the library. The place is spooky, with spiderwebs and flickering candles. Lumiere will be hanging out by the fire, just waiting for you! He’ll ask for your help in making fuel for the fireplace. Here’s what you need to collect:

  • 3 x Castle Canoil
  • 1 x Castle Softwood
  • 1 x Castle Paper

Once you’ve gathered all the materials, head to the stove next to the chest and pop the three Castle Canoil in. Back to Lumiere you go! After he lights the fire, he’ll ask who you are and why you’re there. Let him know that you’re friends with Belle, and he’ll rope you into chasing down a flying painting. The painting starts in the library, and you’ll have to hit E to snatch it up.

Next stop: the piano area. Hang the painting on the wall behind the piano, and voila! You’ll snag an Enigmatic Box and a Domestic Manual Page 1. Take these back to Lumiere, who will spill the tea on the castle being haunted by an old housekeeper. It’s time to explore the garden for some clues!

In the garden, smash the bird statues to get to the maze’s center and clear out the night thorns to find Cogsworth. When you talk to him, he’ll immediately say this mess isn’t his fault. Head back to Lumiere, where they’ll have a fun debate about ghosts, and that’s a wrap on the quest!

How to Complete the A Growing Mystery Quest

Chat with Cogsworth again, and he’ll ask for your help tidying up the castle. First, you’ll need to replant some roses. Journey to the Beast’s Room in the west wing to find four packs of rose seeds. Grab those packs and head to the garden!

“Plant” them by interacting with the bushes in each corner, and they’ll instantaneously grow, but the roses won’t bloom just yet. Speak to Cogsworth, and he’ll mention needing to craft some Rose Fertilizer. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 8 x Castle Softwood
  • 3 x Rich Soil
  • 3 x Castle Stone

Use your watering can with these materials to water the bushes, and just like that, colorful roses will bloom! When you’ve watered the last bush, six roses will drop. Take these back to Cogsworth, who will suggest putting them on display.

Head to the piano room again and display the roses. You’ll earn the First Enigmatic Key and another Domestic Manual Page. Take these back to Cogsworth, and after some playful bickering, this quest will conclude, allowing you to start the next one!

How to Complete the Belle, Book, and Candle Quest

After your quests, Lumiere will have you clean up some misplaced items. You’ll need to return:

  • The Standing Candelabra to the stairs next to the piano room
  • The Lion Statue to the Beast’s Room upstairs
  • The Globe to the Library

Once you’ve sorted everything, you’ll receive Domestic Manual Page 3 and the Second Enigmatic Key. Take these to Lumiere, and he’ll send you on a mission to find the Damaged Domestic Manual in the West Wing. Grab it and take it back to Lumiere.

He’ll figure out that Belle can fix the book, so head back and grab some glue from her. Fix the book at a crafting station, then return to Lumiere. He’ll have set up a display stand, and placing the book on it will earn you the Third Enigmatic Key.

After a bit of chat, Lumiere will say you all need to prepare for a Masquerade Party, and the quest will end.

How to Complete the A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping Quest

Start this quest by talking to Cogsworth about getting ready for the party. He’ll mention you need to find some fine cutlery. Go to the garden cellar for the cutlery and set the table in the piano room.

Next, Lumiere will ask you to create a Charcuterie Board. Here’s what you need to gather:

  • Oyster: In the passage between the Library and Beast’s Room
  • Creepy Crawly Crab: In the same passage
  • Chilling Cucumber: On the right edge of the Library
  • Booyere Cheese: Near the fireplace in the Library
  • Screamed Butter: Behind the sofa in the Library

After crafting the Charcuterie Board, bring it back to Lumiere. He’ll then ask you to make some Rose Garlands using:

  • 8 x Castle Softwood
  • 3 x Rainbow Rose Bouquet
  • 3 x Castle Detritus

Once you craft those, hang them up by Cogsworth, and chat with him once again. After some festivities, return to welcome Lumiere to your valley. The story doesn’t end there, though! Go back for Cogsworth, and after a little retrieval, you’ll officially bring him to your valley as well.

Congratulations! You’ve now added Lumiere and Cogsworth to your valley. Enjoy all the magical adventures with your newly welcomed friends!
