Completing the Passing of the Age quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong can be tricky, especially when you’re hunting down all of Mister Mushroom’s locations across Pharloom. This quest is similar to the Great Taste of Pharloom, where you’ll be exploring a bunch of different spots and using riddles to guide you. Here’s your go-to guide for tackling this quest, along with some helpful cheats, tricks, and tips!

Getting Started

You can’t jump into this quest until you’ve got the Silk Soar ability, which you unlock in Act 3 via The Dark Below quest. Once you have that, make your way to the right side of Pale Lake in the Putrified Ducts. Climb the platforms and use your newly acquired ability to enter the secret passage for your first riddle.

Locations of Mister Mushroom

Here’s where to find Mister Mushroom, along with tips for each spot:

1. Moss Grotto

The first location is in the Moss Mother arena in Moss Grotto.

Locate Moss Grotto, the starting area of the game, in the Moss Mother boss arena. Head to the right where you drop into the chapel. Play your Needolin near the glowing spores, and Mister Mushroom will pop up!

2. Bone Bottom

The second location is where Shakra used to hang out above Bone Bottom.

Look to the upper right side of Bone Bottom, where Shakra used to hang out and sell maps. Play your Needolin here and talk to the mushroom guy!

3. Far Fields

This third location is in the far right of the Far Fields.

Head to the platform just left of the Weavenest Cindril entrance. It’s easy to miss, so keep an eye out for the glowing spores.

4. Greymoor

The fifth location is above Greymoor’s leftmost tower.

Climb above the building that houses the Chapel of the Reaper. You’ll need to jump between buildings to reach this guy—don’t get frustrated if it takes a few tries!

5. The Slab

The sixth location is next to the First Sinner’s cage in The Slab.

This one gets a bit complicated. You need the Apostate Key to access The Slab. Explore it fully to find the Heretic Key, which helps you reach the cage of the First Sinner.

6. Mount Fay

The sixth location is at the top of Mount Fay.

Climbing Mount Fay is easier with the Silk Soar ability. Just keep climbing until you find Mister Mushroom chatting with your fluffy fay-bird buddy.

7. The Cradle

You’ll have to Silk Soar up into The Cradle at this spot in the Choral Chambers.

For the final spot, head to the Choral Chambers and climb up to The Cradle. This area can be tough, but a good trick is to take it slow! Follow the video guides online if you need extra help with jumping puzzles. After reaching the top, play your Needolin one last time to complete the quest.

Completing the Passing of the Age quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong is a bit of a challenge, as you try to track Mister Mushroom’s locations across Pharloom using the riddle he left you. It’s a little similar to the Great Taste of Pharloom quest in that it sees you running all over the map to find the fungi in different out-of-the-way spots. You can’t access this wish until you’ve acquired the Silk Soar ability in Act 3, specifically via The Dark Below quest. Once that’s done, head to the right side of the Pale Lake in the Putrified Ducts (just across from Fleatopia), climb up the platforms, and use Silk Soar to enter the passage above where you’ll find the riddle in question and be able to get started. Below, I’ll run through all of the locations you need to find, as well as share my own (painful) experience with the final platforming section so you can see the exact route and method for getting through it.
